Wig Maintenance
Caring for and maintaining wigs is essential to keep them looking their best and prolong their lifespan. Here are some general tips for both synthetic and human hair wigs:
1. Storage
Store your wig on a wig stand or mannequin head to maintain its shape.
Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Use a wig cover, bag or net to protect it from dust if wig stand isn't available.
2. Handling
Handle your wig gently to avoid tangling and shedding.
Avoid pulling or tugging on the hair.
3. Washing
Wash every 7-12 days
Use lukewarm water and sulfate-free, gentle shampoo (Aussie Shampoo/Conditioner).
Gently massage the shampoo into the hair and rinse thoroughly.
Apply a moisturizing conditioner.
Leave it on for a 15-30 minutes before rinsing with cool water.
Use a deep conditioner occasionally.
4. Drying
Gently blot with a towel to remove excess water.
Allow to air dry on a wig stand (highly recommended), or use a blow dryer on a low heat setting.
5. Styling
Use wide-tooth combs or brushes designed for wigs, always use a heat protectant.
6. Treatments
Avoid over-processing with chemical treatments like dyeing or perming.
Use products designed for human hair wigs to maintain moisture and shine.
With proper care and maintenance, your wig can continue to look fabulous for a long period of time.
